Mallory Cummings rode beside her brother. They had been traveling for a couple days now and they had hardly any money left, but she really needed to get some grain for her horses. She looked toward her borther and gave him a smile. Willow kept at a steady walk as they walked threw the small town. Mallory watched as her brother was falling asleep in the saddle. She hated making him travel, but she promised her father that she would never leave him no matter what and would take care of him. Mallory had heard there was a feed store in this town and knew they needed to get something for molly and the horses. She rode up to the feed store and stopped to the side." Alright Clayton, you stay here with molly and the horses. I'll be back with some food for them. Then we will eat our own food." She started to walk away then remember." Don't speak to anyone and stay put!"She walked into the feed store.

Mallory looked around the feed store. Anyone could tell she was just about 9, just by her childish face. Anyone also could tell that she was raised as a cowgirl. When mallory walked around, but couldn't find anything. She walked to the front of the desk and looked around. She then found a couple of dog food cans. She picked up two and then waited for a cashier to walk up. She need some help with the money she had. Which was only $30.00. She needed to feed two horses and a dog. Mallory looked and saw the feed and everything and all the nice tack that was in there, but she had what she needed and waited.

Clayton Cummings rode on the back of his little gelding Shaggy. He was the most dirtest little boy ever. His eyes was closing as they was walking threw town. Shaggy was about the same way. Shaggy was a fat pony and loved to eat, so he was kinda ready to eat the grass. Clayton looked at his sister and shook his head." Im tired" He looked at her and saw her look and then just keep his mouth shut. Clayton watched as they rode up to the feed store. He knew that they needed to take care of the horses before themselfs, but he was still young and was just wanting to sleep." Alright mallory. I wont move, I'll stay here." He watched his sister leave to go into the feed store. He was ready to take a nap and sat down in the grass and held onto the the horses leads and was about to sleep until molly came over and licked his face. He stayed awake and waited for his sister.

Ah... off duty. There were no sweeter words than those two. Now, don't get it wrong, Officer Cody Walker loves his job, he really does. But, he also loves getting some quality me time in as well as time to spend with his adorable shelter cat Tasha and his colt in training Shift. Which is what he was doing now. Over the past few months, Cody had been taking Shift on longer and longer walks, further and further into the town. Today was the big test, because Cody planned on taking Shift through the whole town and so far so good.

Leading the relaxed Paint colt, Cody was acutely aware of everything going on around him. He wasn't tense per se, but he was certainly on his guard should the colt decide to act up or act out. But, Shift seemed to enjoy these outings as much as Cody did and was more than happy enough to walk beside his master. When he caught the scent of two new horses, however, it became an entirely different story. The colt's head shot up and he whinnied shrilly, ears pricked forward. "Whoa! Easy now! Settle. Settle," Cody soothed, placing a firm and reassuring hand on the colt's two-toned shoulder.

When Shift had returned to his placid self, Cody looked around to see what the commotion had been all about. "Well, I'll be damned," he mumbled to himself, patting Shift's neck as he did so. "What in the hell are two kid's ponies doing at Valley Feed?" He clicked his tongue and urged Shift forward, and the colt readily bounced along beside the officer, neck arched theatrically. When he saw the young boy holding both ponies and a dog sitting next to him, Cody became flooded with concern. This just wasn't right.

It wasn't unusual for some of the ranchers to ride into town for small errands, so Valley Feed was one of many places that offered hitching posts in the parking lot, and Cody took full advantage of it. He thought it was best to leave the young colt behind in case he got some harebrained idea that spooked the ponies. Walking slowly but determinedly toward the boy and ponies, Cody looked around for and type of parental supervision and saw none. He crouched down by the boy and gave him a warm smile. "Hey there, cowboy," he said gently. "Whatcha doing?"

Clayton kept the horses in his hand while the two ate the green grass. Molly, the cow dog laid down in the cool of the shade tree watching Clayton.

Willow & Shaggy's head lifted up from where they was eatting and heard another horse. Shaggy being curious tossed his head and a nicker left his lips. Willow on the other hand went back to eatting. Just becuase Willow was a little younger than Shaggy didn't mean shaggy didn't have a curious side. After looking for the other horse Shaggy went back to eatting.

Clayton watched the horses as they tossed there head around and nickering." Calm down Shaggy, you are just hearing things." Clayton bent down and rubbed molly's head and saw a man walking his way.""Hey there, cowboy," Clayton looked toward the man that was walking his way come to him and start talking to him. He knew better to talk to strangers, but this guy was a cop and cops where nice. Well...some where. Not the cops that took him and his sister away from his parnets ranch to leave them all alone. Clayton snapped back from what he was thinking and looked at him.""Whatcha doing?"[/color]Clayton looked around and back to his horses and then loked at the cop." Just waitin for my sister to come out of the feed store." Clayton smiled and molly walked over to clayton and sat at his feed." This here is Molly. She wont bite no one...and these our horses." Clayton looked at the cop and Shaggy turned toward clayton and nudged him.

Malory walked around the store and had all what she wanted. She had food for molly and then had found a small bag of feed for the two horses. Usely they couldn't find small bags of feed, but this time she did! She was pretty happy. She put everything up on the counter and paid off what she bought. Malory was luckyly to have a couple dollors left. She took her dog food and the bag of horse feed and started walking out the door.

Malory didn't see the cop that Clayton was talking to for the horses were in the way. Malory began to talk to clayton about something," Clayton, I had enough money to buy molly a couple cans of food and a small bag of horse feed." She kept on walking and still didn't see him. She got the tree dropped the feed sack and took the can of food out of the sack and opened it." I don't know how much we..." and Malory stopped what she was saying and dropped the can of dog food. Malory's face was hot. She was mad at Clayton for talking to a cop, but was also kinda frighten. Molly ran over to the dropped can of food and began eatting." Umm...We gotta go Clayton." Malory started to pick up things.
