squeezing her way through a tight gap in the fence summer grinned at the sight before her. plenty of trails to get lost in. solo needed a long gallop to get rid of all her pent up energy she'd acquired from the eventful journey down to the ranch. her young mare danced on the spot filled with adrenaline, she understood what these narrow paths meant. galloping. the girl reached down to pat her chestnut arabians neck, pulled tight as the mare tensed and un-tensed her muscles. easing the reins back a little her horse relaxed lightly, loosening the muscles in her slender body. scanning the area around her summer smiled once more, the lands really were beautiful around here. a few brightly coloured flowers blossomed here and there, setting patches of musky green alight with vibrant reds and purples and yellows. the tips of the tall trees were a glowing green, the sun slowly washing them to a yellow-brown colour. the rains better come soon. the earth beneath the arabians hooves was slightly moist, the long grass only just starting to whither under the intense rays of sunlight that beamed from the glorious blue skies above. a small babbling stream passed before her, splashing occasionally as if trying to share the cool water with the grass and foliage around it. smiling summer nudged the mare's sides ever so gently, sending her into a forward trot as she splashed carelessly through the stream toward the number of trails. the chestnut planted her hooves lightly on the dusty track, letting the fresh stream water drip slowly onto the earth making the ground a lot darker than the rest of it. there were four trails to choose from, one of them a lot shadier than the other three. summer was in the mood for running, for the sun on her blond hair. but which trail was best for that she wasn't sure. solo tossed her beautiful head impatiently, wanting to get going and gallop till she could burst.

Ichabod'll bite. Ichabod's tall frame was a towering sight aboard his stout little mare. The spotty, pigheaded mare moved with a sure confidence, weaving in and out of fence posts as he directed her over, under and through obstacles. His arms were naturally low, his left grasping the split western reins at waist level and his right dangling at his side, brushing the saddle skirt. His hips moved seemingly independent of his torso, directing the mature Appaloosa with his legs effortlessly; a cigarette dangling casually between his lips. This was routine, they were just out for a boony-stomp. Caught up in duties, the duo picked their way down the edge of a rocky path with little effort, emerging onto the trailhead a few yards upwind of Summer.
Bonnie saw the pair before Ichabod did, spinning in a stock circle to face them with nostrils flared and ears forward. Swaying at this abrupt change of motion, he kept his seat, the brief breeze knocking the cherry off the end of his cigarette. It dropped into his lap and he swore, popping out of the saddle to swipe at the singed leather and, by proxy, his wounded thigh. "Shit! Fuck!" Mildly startled - or halfway impatient - Bonnie bolted forward; taking four steps before regaining her nerves of steel complexion and stopping dead, sending Ichabod lurching forward again. One would swear he was a novice - or at the very least, drunk, the way he was flopping around. Grumbling to himself, he glanced up, eyes on the slender blonde. "Shit." He muttered again, this time more to the horse and himself than anything else.
Tugging the cig out of his mouth with his right hand, he dropped the reins over Bonnie's neck, freeing his left hand effectively. Licking his fingers, he pinched the cigarette out, verifying it was, in fact, dead before tucking it back behind his ear. His curly blonde hair lay in a halo around the brim of his hat, the stetson pulled lower over his face before nudging the Appy forward again, toward the chestnut and her rider. "Afternoon, ma'am."

hearing something going on behind her summer turned slightly in the saddle, to see a figure on a horse. something obviously wasn't right, but everything seemed to be under control so she turned back and soothed her mare, who was slowly arousing to the fact there was someone behind them. she began to dance on the spot a little, tossing her head up and down, up and down. summer patted her softly on her tense chestnut neck, mumbling in soothing tones, "easy girl, easy." nadoneee.
