The two story house had remained empty for quite some time but was now slowly filling up with furniture and Boone's belongings. He'd already gotten what furniture he had moved in and in it's tentative spots. He was now working on getting the last of his things unloaded from his truck.
Boone jumped down from the back of his truck before turning around and picking up the large box. He carried it inside the open front door as his three year old black German Shepherd came trotting over. Struggling for a moment as the excited dog came up in front of him, he stepped around her to carry the box into the kitchen. He wasn't sure what was in it, but he would figure that out later.
Once he placed the rather heavy box on the counter he turned around to find that Abby had followed him in. He leaned down, giving her a quick pat on the head before heading back out to the truck to get the last box out. He wasn't particularly looking forward to spending all day unpacking and getting everything organized but he didn't have anywhere else he had to be. He could hear Abby trotting out after him as he headed out to the truck. As he walked down the couple of steps to the driveway he kicked something. Looking down he saw Abby's bright orange tennis ball.
He leaned over to pick it up and suddenly found Abby standing in front of him, looking ready to take off. Her eyes were on the bright orange tennis ball in his hand and she stood motionless, her gaze intense. Smirking slightly, Boone threw the ball across the lawn and watched Abby tear off across to retrieve it. He leaned up against his truck, relieved for the break as he watched Abby pick up the ball and trot back towards him, her tail wagging happily as she dropped the ball at his feet.

Buffy Anne Summers parked her truck at her house. She shut it off and got out. Looking over toward the new neighbor moving in she smiled. She had one box left to unpack in her closet but refused to unpack it. She stood leaning on her truck after shutting the door and locking it. She watched the new guy and his dog. She smiled slightly. She got the nerve now. Walking over she stood on the road. You have a beautiful dog she said. She smiled slightly. Her blonde hair tied in a ponytail at the back of her head. She was wearing her old motorcycle jacket. But, she loved the feel of it. She watched still hoping to get him talking to her.

Boone picked up the rather slobbery bright orange tennis ball again. He turned away from the truck to throw it further around the house when he suddenly realized Abby was no longer at his feet waiting for him to throw the ball. He turned around as he heard the dog's familiar barks at the end of his driveway.
Abby had trotted over towards the end of the driveway where he now spotted an unfamiliar young woman walking towards him. She looked to be a couple years younger than him and wore what looked like an old motorcycle jacket with her blond hair tied back. "Abby," Boone called to the dog, who continued to watch the young woman suspiciously. At the sound of her name she turned her head to look at Boone and he motioned for her to come. With one last little bark to the stranger the young dog turned and trotted back to Boone's side, turning around at his feet to face the stranger.
Boone turned his attention to the stranger who had come over from a house close by. He forced a smile as she complimented his dog, but inwardly began to feel slightly anxious and nervous. "Thanks," he said quickly as he ducked his head, giving the black dog a quick pat on the head. Realizing the young woman wasn't about to do any harm, Abby stepped forward uncertainly to sniff her. "Don't mind her, she thinks she has to bark at everyone." Abby was generally a good watch dog, although she was used to staying on places with more property. He only hoped she didn't get in a habit of barking at everyone that just walked past on the street.

Buffy smiled slightly. Don't worry about it. I bet she just thought that I was a threat she said. She knelt down and held her hand out to the dog. I'm Buffy by the way[/s] she said. She wasn't the kind of person to be so quick to talk to new people. Normally she was shy. She was glad her horses were locked in her trailer hidden where only she knew where to find them. She hoped not to scare the dog away from her. She only held her hand out to let the dog sniff it.

Boone leaned up against his truck, crossing his arms as he watched Abby tentatively approach the woman. The young dog stepped forward, sniffing out the hand the woman held out for her. Once apparently satisfied, Abby returned to Boone's feet where she laid down and rested her head on her paws, gazing up at them as they spoke.
"I'm Boone," Boone introduced himself after the young woman introduced herself as Buffy. Buffy; that was a name he hasn't heard before. An awkward silence followed his introduction before he forced himself to speak up again. "I just moved here."
It may have been obvious that he had just moved to the area; he wasn't sure if neighborhood gossip got around or not. It would have been obvious since the moving trucks had been there the day before, unloading furniture. He had also spent the majority of the day unpacking boxes from his truck and moving furniture around in his house. Unpacking was always something he hated to do; he tended to leave most of his belongings in his boxes and eventually take them out as he needs them. However, he didn't want to have a ton of boxes sitting around his house for weeks on end as his belongings slowly got unpacked, so he was trying to do it all in one day.

Buffy smiled slightly. Standing back up. Well, I moved in last week she said. She adjusted her jeans and old motorcycle jacket slightly. She just noticed that she had her racing gloves on still. She laughed slightly and removed them. Looking back over she smiled slightly.

"Guess we're both new to the neighborhood then," Boone replied as he leaned down to give Abby a pat and pick up her tennis ball again. The young German Shepherd rose to her feet, her eyes on the ball. She wasn't usually such a 'retrieving' type of dog, but he hasn't had the chance to play with her in awhile having been busy with packing and moving. He threw the ball across the lawn and watched the dog tear off after it before glancing back to Buffy awkwardly.
"So...where did you move from?" he asked after a moment of silence as he watched Abby skid to a stop in the grass to grab the bright orange tennis ball. She trotted back towards him, the ball in her mouth before dropping it at his feet when she reached him again. Instead of picking up the now slobber covered tennis ball he kicked it back across the lawn and watched Abby run after it.

I moved from a town called Sunnydale. But, I had lived there my whole life until last week said Buffy. She twisted her gloves slightly and looked to her house. She was kind of missing her old home now. She wasn't used to the smells yet. She loved the smells of her old home.
((very low on muse sorry))

"Oh." Boone couldn't help but feel awkward. Abby seemed to be getting bored of retrieving the ball and dropped it on the lawn where she also laid down, watching them. Another awkward silence followed; Boone hated having to be the one to keep conversations going, especially if it was someone he doesn't know. He was socially awkward as it was. He cleared his throat, feeling slightly embarrassed as he turned back slightly to face his truck.
"Well, I'd better get back to unpacking, I have lots to do," he said as he circled around to the back of his truck to double check that there weren't any other boxes there. Finding it empty, he closed up the back. Abby jumped up to her feet and trotted over, giving a wide berth around the woman as she returned to Boone's side. He gave her a quick pat as he slid his truck keys back in his jean pocket, glancing at Buffy to see if she had anything else to say before he headed back inside.

Buffy smiled slightly. I have to go work one of my horses anyway. So, I'll see you around maybe she said. She looked to her truck and hoped she would get ill again today. She turned and walked home. She only glanced back before getting into her truck to head to where she hid her trailer.
