Max Smithson drove his truck and trailer up. He parked them both and shut the truck off. He grabbed his black felt hat and placed it onto his head. He checked his cooler and smiled seeing the beer and water bottles. He went to the trailer to unloaded his good horse Black Hawk.
He lowered the back ramp of his trailer and untied Black Hawk from the hock. He led the jumpy gelding out of the trailer and down the ramp. He tied the black gelding to the side of the trailer to saddle him up. He placed the red blanket onto the gelding's back. He lifted the saddle up onto his back as well. He tightened the girth and then removed the halter to place the bridle on. He got the bit into Black Hawk's mouth and put the crown over his ears to tighten the throat latch.
Black Hawk snorted and pawed the ground. He turned his head and nudged Max. Settle down, Hawk.said Max. The black friesian gelding snorted and started to relax. Max quickly shut the ramp so Platinum Trigger couldn't get out of the trailer.
Max led Black Hawk to the gate of the ring and opened it. He mounted the gelding and shut the gate behind them. Black Hawk snorted and walked forward to the middle of the ring. Max held the reins tight but not too tight. He nudged Black Hawk.

Kody rolled her truck and rig around the parking lot, horse in tow. She found an area to park, taking over a few spots. It didn't really matter since the place was pretty abandoned today.
She killed the engine of the silver chevrolet and hopped out. She walked to the back of her trailer and swung the back door open and hummed to her horse quietly.
Tuff, boy. Ready for some work?
The dun gelding (click) snorted with a long sigh, Kody unhitched the slant and backed him out of the trailer. When they were both out of the trailer, she stopped him and strapped on his bell boots and leg wraps that were snapped around his stirrups to travel in. Now he was red dun and hot pink. Typical girl she was. She shut the trailer door and walked her gelding to the arena gate and entered.
Once in, she mounted and spotted a guy on a stalky black horse. She watched for a second then stuck her heels to Tuff's sides and motioned him to walk. The horse bolted a little bit but was walking.

Max got Black Hawk into a well needed trot. He gave his gelding more rein. He glanced around and saw another rider in the ring. But, he smiled slightly noticing the fact that his horse didn't notice. He kept one hand of the reins and moved his other to pet his horse on his flank.
Stay Relaxed, Hawk. No one will put harm to you while I'm here said Max. Black Hawk snorted and stayed at a walk. He stayed relaxed. In a trot the black gelding under Max rose it's legs higher than a normal horse would. But, this lovely black gelding was a friesian.
Max slowed his horse to have the black gelding walk next to the other rider in the ring. Hello, my name's Max Smithson he said. Black Hawk stayed relaxed and walked in a relaxed way.

Kody stayed put, relaxed in her seat. The gelding was content under the saddle, his head hanging low without a sound. She was surprised he wasn't bouncing around trying to retrieve attention from the other horse that was coming up. She rubbed the nape of his neck and played with his mane a little bit as they walked.
She heard the steps of the heavy horse following up behind her and Tuff. She was paying her own mind at first, she wasn't sure if the guy would want to focus on his horse or whatever so she was silent. She turned to him when she spoke as it almost echoed off the wall of the arena that separated them from outside.
Hi Max, I'm Kody - this is Tuff.
She spoke right when Tuff raised his head, evidently just now noticing the presence beside him. He was suddenly tense and alert, contrary to what he was not even 2 seconds ago.

Max smiled slightly. Nice to meet you, Kody. This here is Black Hawk. But, for short just Hawk he said. He patted his black gelding's flank. Black Hawk snorted and stayed at the easy pace.
Black Hawk pulled on the reins wanting to trot again. But, Max held him in the walk. But, he switched hands to pat Black Hawk's other flank. The black friesian gelding nickered slightly. But, heard his name said and rose his head.
Max sighed slightly. He was thinking about his other horse which was in his trailer. He had named the second horse in his trailer, Platinum Trigger and for a good reason. But, he was trying to keep Black Hawk in the zone of his training. So he was glad he wasn't riding his thoroughbred today.

She looked over the big horse as he tugged on the reins. She smiled as he spoke, he must be new around town. Max didn't seem as homely as the people who have always lived here..
Well, it's nice to meet you two.
She smiled still. Tuff shook his head, blowing through his nostrils from irritation. The gelding's ears were turned back, listening to the girl talk along with the new company. She patted her horse on the neck. She watched as he patted the friesian's flanks, finding it odd because that was a horse's weak spot - or one. But she turned her attention back on her horse as they continued to walk..

Max felt Black Hawk pulling again. So, he dug his heels into his gelding. Black Hawk whinnied happily and moved into a high stepping trot. The black gelding just liked to show off. Max knew this because of the gelding always prancing around in his place.
Max put both hands on the reins now. Black Hawk brought his head in. His neck arched beautifully. Max gave the gelding another nudge. Black Hawk went into a canter. But, his head stayed close to him. His neck staying arched. It was easy to tell this gelding was probably a show horse.

She watched as Max and his own horse took off. She was gazing with interest on the duo. They were moving a lot different than she and her trusty ol' gelding would. Definitely not anything casual about his style of riding, and it was almost foreign to her - like he wasn't even on a horse as she was. Well, he really wasn't... Tuff was a stalky built appendix horse, but Max's stallion was way bigger, like a mountain that moved like a ballet dancer.
Tuff was relaxed once more when the other male equine passed by eventually. Half of his attention was spanned to the other company, and half was focused on Kody. He snorted again, in irritation, like a bug or such found a homestead upon his muzzle.

Max pulled slightly on the reins. He wanted his gelding to slide to a halt. Black Hawk nickered suddenly. He brought his rump underneath him in a sliding halt. Max patted the gelding's neck. He then glanced and got the gelding to walk into the middle of the ring.
Come on, Hawk. You can do itsaid Max. He pulled on the reins again. Black Hawk suddenly reared. He nieghed loudly at nothing. Max carefully removed his hat and tossed it to his trailer. His trailer started to move slightly. Black Hawk landed easily without hurting himself. Now, you can relax, Hawk. Tomorrow you get the day off he said

Kody slowed Tuff to a stand-still and watched, resting on her saddle horn with her feet dangling off the stirrups. Once the other two were done, she clapped as she sat back in her saddle with a grin.
That was good, I haven't seen something like that up close and personal ever..
At horse shows, maybe, but not in a ring like this with no crowd and she not be sitting in the audience. Kody did barrels like Rylie but that was about it. Nothing fancy about it, but Max, Max and Hawk had something. She was impressed to say the least.

Max smiled. He nudged Black Hawk. The black gelding walked over to Kody and Tuff. He halted once there. Hawk, is good at that stuff. He loves to be a show off. My other horse doesn't show off. He's always wanting to race he said. Black Hawk looked to the still moving trailer.
Max turned in his saddle and looked. He saw Platinum Trigger stick his head out of the back of the trailer. He smiled slightly. That horse in my trailer is Platinum Trigger. I bet you can't guess why he's named that he said.

Kody nodded, listening to him speak. When the horse turned to look away, she followed his stare to a moving rig. Max still talked to her, she listened but saw another horse's head that was pushed out of the trailer. She laughed a little under her breath,
I can only imagine.
She answered his question as to why his name was 'Platinum Trigger'. Tuff was also curious to the rocking trailer, seeing another being.

Max smiled as Platinum Trigger tried to unlock the ramp. He patted Black Hawk's neck. But, he watched as the ramp to the trailer fell down. Platinum Trigger rushed out and jumped the gate of the ring to get into it. He turned suddenly and raced around the outside of the ring.
Black Hawk got spooked easily. But, Max pulled him to a halt. Max quickly kicked Black Hawk. Platinum Trigger, get back into that trailer he said. Black Hawk galloped behind the fast thoroughbred. Max reached for his rope which was hitting Black Hawk's hind right leg.

Kody watched, she would help but she wasn't sure if he would want her messing with his horses. Tuff scooted around, his feet steadily moving underneath them. He was almost impatient, like he was waiting for a cue but she wasn't going to signal him to do anything. Besides, she was about 98% positive he knew what he was doing and that this wasn't his first ordeal.

Max felt Black Hawk getting tired. He slowed the friesian down. Black Hawk halted easily and hung his head low. Max patted his neck. He couldn't catch the stallion. He felt bad for pushing his gelding to even try.
Max glanced to her. Could you give me a hand? I don't think Black Hawk has the energy to keep up with Platinum Trigger he said. Black Hawk grunted tiredly. But, watched Platinum Trigger closely. The chestnut stallion wasn't planning on stopped anytime soon.
