A soft snort broke the soft stillness of the plains. Gentle hoofbeats drummed a slow, steady tattoo against the terrain. Soon the drummer from the background came into view, cresting on of the smaller hills on the plains. A two-toned creature emerged on the summit of the incline, head bobbing pleasantly with each loping stride. Black mane and tail flowed in multiple tendrils as it was combed by the light breeze that was sweeping the plains.
The creature's body was an uneven mixture of muddy brown and white, although time and elements had dulled the white down to a dusty off white. The hooves that beat the loping tattoo onto the earth were mildly cracked in places and showed signs of wear from varying terrains. The heavier arch in the creature's strong neck classed it as a stallion of the equine persuasion.
He hadn't traveled all that far, but it was far enough in the rising temperature to require a short break. His strides slowed until he found himself jogging, then walking. Eventually he stopped, nostrils flaring to sample the scents on the wind. Nothing unfamiliar caught his attention. He dropped his head to crop a few blades from the earth below. His ears flicked as he rested and ate for a few minutes. As his energy level rose again, the stallion brought his head up sharply. With a sharp squeal he kicked up his heels and crow-hopped a small circle for the sheer joy of it.

( hope you don't mind me posting ) The clouds hadn't moved all the fast, and they all looked like a blanket of white so it wasn't easy to tell if they had moved at all. The soft stillness of the plains had created a calm effect but almost gave the illusion that time was standing still. A light breeze gently swept through the plains, cooling off the lands ever so slightly. In the middle of the plains, underneath a large tree lay a large black and white mare. Aamirah is the only one of her kind, a Gypsy Vanner, or at least thats what she believes..... For four years Aamirah has never anyone like her. Of course there are horse that are black and white or brown and white but none ever like her. She isn't bothered by the possibility of being the only of her kind, she been on her own her whole life so it's no new news to her. On one of the days of her exploring she came across what appeared to be a horse riding center. The idea of being around other horses and being cared for was something that Aamirah has always longed for but she's too scared to venture onto the property, she doesn't know what will happen if she's captured. Hooves beats against the ground at a high speed woke the sleeping mare, almost startling her, she hadn't met nor seen a horse out in these plains before. From out of her sleepy eyes she saw an uneven mixture of muddy brown and white running across the plains. After a second attempt her eyes revealled it was a stallion, naturally given away by the horses heavier arch in its neck. She watched the stallion slow down until he eventually stopped. Aamirah let out a low whinny when the stallion squealed and kicked up his heels, if she were human it would have been heard as a giggle but obviously it's a bit harder as a horse. After finding the feeling in her hooves again Aamirah made it onto her feet and shook her body to get off any twigs or leaves. She hadn't met another horse in a while so she decided she would go and say hello. Suddenly bubbling with energy Aamirah let out a high whinning and took off towards the stallion, happily galloping across the plains. As she got closer she slowed down until she had completely stopped in front of the stallion.

(Not at all! Glad to have another wild one to roleplay with!)
A foreign sound that had not been heard on the winds before suddenly caused Winchester to bring his head back up sharply and his antics to a halt. He waited for the sound to come again, but it didn't. Though muffled by distance and the noise of the breeze itself, the sound had almost sounded like another like himself. Hearing nothing else did not serve any purpose but to allow Winchester enough relaxation to drop his head to graze once again. However, this grazing was jerky, as he brought his head up repeatedly after tearing off a mouthful of sustenance.
Winchester's ears flicked back and forth the whole time he grazed, straining to catch any new sounds. Then, there it was! A soft, steady thrumming against the ground followed by a high-pitched whinny. It was one of his own kind after all. Now all that remained to be seen was whether or not this new one was some sort of threat or not. Turning, Winchester locked his sight on on the galloping horse. Body language did not denote aggression, but it was a ways off yet. The neck lacked the heavy arch of a stallion and the scent on the breeze suggested feminine chromosomes, but the sheer size of the oncoming equine was less than comforting. The last thing Winchester needed was to run upon some testy alpha mare who was bigger than he was.
Winchester was on high alert, ears pinned slightly, as she came barreling in. But, when the mare slowed and stopped before him, he relaxed considerably. He was a bachelor stallion without even the company of a bachelor herd. This chance meeting could prove to be the start of something good. Winchester arched his neck and tilted his head out toward the large mare, blowing softly through his nose in greeting.

Aamirah watched the stallion relax as she stopped. Even though he had relaxed the stallion seemed some what uneased by her height. She watched the stallion arch his neck and tilt his head out towards her, blowing softly through his nose in greeting. To some what ease the stallion she lowered her head down slightly and lean't in to greet him like wise. In lowering her head she hoped that she wouldn't intimidate the stallion as much. Her height had always scared horses smaller than her but she's really just like a big teddy bear. Aamirah would never hurt a fly but it's hard to meet horses that aren't scared by her height.
(Sorry about the short post, i'm too tired to think of anything else)

Winchester appreciated when the mare dipped her own head to greet him in kind. He wasn't exactly small at 15.3hh, but he was still fairly petit when compared to this mare. Still, a companion of some sort, despite the obvious size difference, would be better than constantly being alone. Even a small herd of two was safer from predators than one solitary horse. Besides the safety factor, the fact that his new acquaintance was a mare could prove to be useful in other ways, such as starting a herd of their own.
After their greetings had been exchanged, Winchester snorted sharply and shook his head. He nipped at the mare's shoulder semi-affectionately. The first thing to be done was see how well she took direction. With another snort, Winchester arched his neck heavily and nipped at the mare's shoulder again before breaking into an easy jog in the direction she had come from earlier. He allowed himself to get a little ways ahead of her to see if she would follow. If not, he would go back and repeat the exercise, using a bit more force. If Winchester had anything to say about it, she would submit to his leadership.
(Lol. He's a bit of a pushy guy. Thinks a lot of himself. )

Aamirah was over-joyed to meet another wild horse. She would have ventured off and gone looking for other wild horses a long time ago but this place was like a safe haven for her. She could defend herself around here but if she left the plains she might encounter something she couldn't defend herself against so she stay here in the plains. This meeting was that of a miricale and the fact that the wild horse was a stallion was some what... needed.... Aamirah had never been in a herd so this chance meeting could possibily be the chance to start a new herd of their own. After their greetings had been exchanged, the stallion snorted sharply and shook his head. He nipped at Aamirah's shoulder semi-affectionately and after another snort the stallion arched his neck heavily and nipped at Aamirah's shoulder again before breaking into an easy jog in the direction Aamirah had just come from earlier. Aamirah watched the stallion for a little while and then decided to follow. She broke into the same easy jog as the stallion and caught up. Even if he seemed to be a bit pushy it didn't bother Aamirah, personally she was just happy to have found another wild horse. Someone she could be with. (Lol, good thing Aamirah isn't too bothered by him or else he would have some trouble getting her to follow )

Winchester was pleased to see the mare followed him without question. This was definitely a good sign, as her obedience could mean she was willing to become part of a herd mentality. Now all they needed were a few other mares to make for a proper herd.
Seeing a shady tree with a softly worn patch beneath it in the distance, Winchester adjusted his course. The afternoon sun was warm and there were very few places for water aside from the creek. And that was a little ways away yet. So, heading for shade would be a decent relief from the heat until the plains cooled down later toward the evening. Then they could venture to the creek in comfort.
Reaching the shaded area, Winchester pulled himself to a halt and turned to look at Aamirah. He snorted softly and nudged her shoulder when she got closer before dropping his head to graze.

Aamirah adjusted course with Winchester. Seeing the direction he was heading told Aamirah that they were heading to her usual relaxing spot as the softly worn patch beneath the tree was worn out by her. The day was hot today so thankfully the shade would provide enough relief from the heat. Aamirah had always relaxed under that tree on hot days and then ventured down to the creek to cool off. She knew this place like the back of her hand and knows every hidden place in the plains.
When they reached the shaded area, Aamirah stopped with Winchester and look at him when he turned to look at her before snorting softly and nudging her shoulder. After Winchester had dropped his head to graze Aamirah walked over to the slightly worn patch and laid down. She kept a bit upright so she could graze lightly while lying down. Her forelock and mane were so long that you couldn't see her head, it was just black and white mane.

Winchester glanced at Aamirah while she settled herself down in the worn patch beneath the tree. This was obviously one of her usual resting places. He could see why. There was plenty of shade and grass to be had by the tree, so it would be easy enough to spend the whole day there until the sun started to go down and the air cooled off.
-Time Passes-
Winchester snorted and his coat shuddered to dislodge the first few flies of the oncoming evening. He lifted his head to scent the air. The heat of the day was fading as the sun began its decline on the horizon. There would be light left for another few hours, so now was the perfect time to head to the creek.
Whickering to Aamirah, Winchester shook himself and stretched his neck. He moved off in a slow walk before breaking into an easy jog. As he moved away, he glanced back to see if she was following.

As the hours past Aamirah had laid her head down and dozed off into a peaceful sleep. Despite being a young bubbly mare she was a very relaxed and calm most of the time, happy to just sleep under a tree or wander around the plains in the cooler afternoon. Even though Aamirah had just met Winchester his presence was just like the birds which usual come and sit on Aamirah, they're welcomed and unordinary. To her his presence was just as if he'd always been there, just like the birds.
A snort woke Aamirah from her quiet sleep. For a second the sight of Winchester scared her but then she remembered everything from the hours before. The day had cooled down, making it easier to move around the plains without getting too hot. Aamirah shook her head to try and move her forelock out of the way so she could see better, she'd gotten so used to the length of her forelock that if it didn't move out of the way the first time she would just leave it.
Aamirah looked up at Winchester when he nickered to her before shaking himself and moved off in a slow walk. Just as Winchester broke into an easy jog Aamirah got up and shook herself off before breaking into an easy jog to follow. This was the time of day in which she always headed down to the creek so she had a pretty good feeling of where they were heading because this was the path in which you reach the creek. When Aamirah caught up she decided to have a bit of fun and have a race. She whinned and shot into a gallop across the lands, keeping her ears pricked up to hear if Winchester was following her.

As Aamirah followed, Winchester turned his attention back to following the path. It wasn't very wide, but it was fairly distinct. Small clouds of dust puffed up around his worn hooves as he jogged along, his pace relaxed and his body swaying in gentle time with the beat of his hooves making light contact with the earth. The slowly fading sunshine still felt warm against his coat, and the twilight bugs began their ascent as the pair got closer to the damp air around the creek.
Lashing his tail from side to side, Winchester happily jogged right into the creek. The cool water soothed his muscles and tired feet. With a soft snort, he plunged his muzzle into the cool, clear water and drank deeply. Lifting his head, crystalline droplets fell from his muzzle. He shook his head slightly before lashing his tail again. This time, however, after being doused in the water, his tail flung thin streams of cool water against the stallion's body. It served both to cool him and disperse the small clouds of bugs that had begun to gather.

Aamirah bounded into the creek after Winchester, making quite a big splash but then relaxed to calmly walking through the creek. She often came down and played in the creek on hot summer days. Because Aamirah was so tall she was higher up above the water then Winchester so her body wasn't as emerged in water as him, obviously its night like she hadn't noticed that before. She nickered to Winchester and nodded her head in the direction of the creek rounding around the corner. Aamirah starting walking through the creek following it around the corner. She'd found this place a long time ago so when she rounded the corner she was prepared for the branches that nearly hit her head on. She ducked her head down and then kicked off the ground with her hooves because right at that spot the creek gets so deep that even she has to swim. This was the place she always came to cool off completely.

Winchester snorted softly as Aamirah came splashing into the creek. He shifted his position to ensure that there was enough room for the pair of them. He stood near the bank, immersed in the cool water to his knees while he grazed on the bank. The water, in addition to keeping him cool, served a secondary purpose of wetting his tail so he could flick water to dispel the flying pests that hovered around.
When Aamirah nickered, Winchester his head and watched her curiously for a moment. Then as she moved off, he followed, carefully picking his way over the slippery rocks on the bottom of the creek. He watched as she ducked to avoid some branches, and did the same, though he didn't have to duck as low as she had.
The drop off on the bottom of the creek took Winchester by surprise, but he kicked out swimming instinctively. He blew a sharp breath through his flared nostrils, thoroughly enjoying the cool water completely surrounding his body.
