The street lights glowed as Emma Johnson made her way down the lonely streets. It was silent, yet peaceful. The cool air seeped into her clothing, she shivered. Emma couldn't sleep at all. So,she decided to just wander the streets in hope she would be able too later. She had a lot on her mind was why she could not sleep.
She put the earbuds of her ipod into her ears, playing the song Thinking of You by Katy perry. Green eyes shut for a moment, lost in thought. Carlo, was who she was thinking if at the moment. How she missed him so much, how much she loved him. He was her best friend so she thought. Emma kicked herself all the time for loosing contact with him. Tears rolled down her face as memories of the two played in her head.
She loved him and he never knew. Just like she missed him and he never knew.

The night air was decidedly cool, but that never stopped Carlo. Especially when it came to his dogs. And Lucky was still learning how to hold it for the night. The little Dalmatian pup still yammered to be let out at ungodly hours of the night and morning. But, Carlo was practically devoted to his dogs. So, when the Luckster came whimpering, he'd rolled out of his nice warm bed, called the other two canines over and leashed them all up.
Yawning, Carlo figured he must be quite the sight for anyone looking out. He'd lucked out with really understanding landlords, for one. He was the only person he knew that was allowed 3 dogs in an apartment building. That and the fact that one was a Dalmatian puppy, one was a full-grown Great Dane, and the other was a bouncy Jack Russell Terrier. "People probably recognize us a mile off," he grumbled good-naturedly to his companions as he stuck a cigarette into his mouth. He took out his lighter as all three dogs sniffed out places to do their business.
Touching the flame to the tip of his smoke, Carlo inhaled softly. He jumped as Sparky started barking madly. "Hush!" Carlo said sharply, causing the terrier to tuck his tail and hang his head. Carlo scratched Sparky's ears gently. "Nutcase, what are you barking at?" he mumbled, looking around.

Emma turned the music down slightly. The bark of a dog was heard, one that sounded fimilar. The air hit her again and she shivered once more. Green eyes looked up ahead and that's when she saw him. Surely she was seeing things. It couldn't be Carlo. Could it?
Emma turned of the music and soved it into her pocket. Green eyes shut for a moment, then opened again. Emma it's not him,Carlo is still back home. Your dreaming! she said in her head over and over. Eyes opened suddenly to look back at what she though was a dream. He was walking in her direction. So,she must not be dreaming. Tears trickled down her cheeks more.
She had to do it, "Ca ca Carlo?" she said into the open. Her heartbeat sped up as she waited for a answer. Her breathe came in puffs in the night air.

Carlo looked around and saw with mild surprise that someone else was out at this ungodly hour. When all the world was asleep, wouldn't luck just have it that the two people who weren't asleep would happen to be wandering the same area. But, that would explain why Sparky had started barking. The little bugger was rather territorial, though he rarely barked while in the apartment, which was a good thing. Stifling a yawn, Carlo took another slow drag on his cigarette before releasing a steady stream of smoke into the cool air.
The dim orange glow of the streetlights didn't allow him to see the person clearly, but they seemed to be heading this way. Now, Carlo's not the most social little shit going, so it wasn't in his nature to wave or call out a greeting without first being addressed. And with his luck, anyone out this late was only up to no good. Still, there was little chance there was anyone stupid enough to mess with a guy who was holding the leash of a dog whose head came over Carlo's waist.
So, with these thoughts tumbling around in his head, you could imagine Carlo's surprise when a rather feminine voice called out his name hesitantly. He looked up sharply, smoke streaming from his mouth. "Who's asking," he replied bluntly. He hadn't been around to make that many friends, least of all female.

Emma about jumped out of her skin as she heard his voice. That was her proof that she was not dreaming at all. That he was real,he was here. In this down of Indian Valley. Em slowly made her way to where she thought he could see her. She swolled the lump in her throat.
"It's me,Carlo. It's Emma,Emma Johnson she said as she looked at him now. Emma moved closer, only a feet yards from him now. She swatted at the tears still running down her face. Green eyes ran over him, seeing he had not changed at all.

Carlo blinked sharply when the woman spoke again. Emma Johnson. Why did that name sound familiar? Oh holy lord! Not Emma from back in New York?! It had been a few years since he'd last seen her, and the last place he expected to find her was here! Not that he wasn't pleased, he and Emma had been pretty close before he moved.
"No shit," he said with a laugh. "Emma! Get your ass over here!" He took a couple steps forward, hampered by the fact that none of the dogs seemed interested in this chance meeting.

Emma walked towards him slowly, she fought back tears that stung her eyes. She could not believe he was here. Indian Valley,of all places. Carlo was the type who belonged back hime in New York. Not here in a small town. Standing infront of him now her eyes wandered over him,he hadn't shanged from the same punkass she once knew and loved.
Em couldn't hide how how she was any longer. With a sudden sigh mixed with a sob she threw her arms around his neck. Her body pushed against his, tears streaming down her face. "Your your hear." she said. Her voice was muffled a little as her face was buried into his neck.

Carlo had not been expecting Emma to throw herself at him. Thankfully he was used to random attacks from his dogs, especially Zeus, so he managed to stay upright as her weight hit him. He wrapped his free arm around her back to help support her as she leaned against him. Well.... this certainly was awkward.
Not liking being left out of the game, Zeus came over and wedged his large head between the two. Sparky yapped a couple times and bounced around the Great Dane's feet, also wanting to be included. The only canine not forcing himself in was Lucky, who had found a stick and had settled his spotted self down to happily gnaw away at it.
"Sparkster! Hush!" Carlo said firmly as he pushed Zeus' head away. "And you, you great baby, go on now." With a soft laugh and a shake of his head, Carlo looked back at Emma, half-wishing she would let him go. "Uh... yeah.... I'm here," he said, puzzled by her reaction. It wasn't like they had been emotionally involved when he moved.

Emma sighed softly as the dogs made their way to them. She really should have not threw herslef at Carlo like that. Em knew how big of a touch-me-not he was. Green eyes looked into his as she pulled away from him. He was staring at her. Yeah, she pretty much screwed up. She brushed away the tears that had made their way down her cheek. "Sorry." she said.

Carlo looked at Emma. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen her cry, but he was pretty sure that he hadn't been the cause of it. And now he was, and he didn't even know why. "So, uh, how ya been?" he asked, reaching down to pick Lucky up. He gently scratched the puppy's ears as Lucky tried to nibble his fingers.

"I'm doing okay. Better now that I've seen you." she said to him. It was crazy how much he actually missed him,she thought of him from time to time. As for missing him though,it only happened when memories came into her head. "How have you been." vocals asked. Green obtics looked at the Dalmation puppy.

Carlo glanced at Emma when she said that she was better now that she had seen him. It made him feel awkward because it was fairly obvious she had felt something more than the simple friendship that they'd had in New York. Carlo didn't. Sure, they had been pretty close, but he never really saw Emma as anything special.
"I've been all right," he said finally. "What brings you to a little shitsplat town like this? I didn't figure you'd ever leave New York."

"I decided to just leave, you know how dad was." Green eyes looked at the concret in which she stood. Always she wondered what he had thought of her,she liked him a little once upon a time. It didn't matter though. She knew how he felt though she thought.
