Katy pulled into the auction area not sure if she wanted to buy a horse today or not. She had the money from the few Mustangs she had auctioned last week but if her father found out she got another horse he might make her sell it again. "who cares what he thinks, plus Rain Maker needs a playmate those Mustangs don't pay much attention to her." She looked back at their three horse trailer and went to check to make sure everything was ready incase she did infact buy a horse.
She looked around her expert eyes going over each horse she say, there where a few potentials but none of their owners seemed to be able to talk. Then she say him, one of the most beautiful paints she had ever seen, except of course for Rain Maker. She walked towards him and the young thirteen year old by his stall. She walked up and proudly introduced herself.
"Hi, my names Katy Olson, I've been looking for a horse to buy so that my horse Rain Maker can have a play mate and I couldn't help but notice your boy over here." She seeled it with a smiled then turned towards the horse sticking his head out.
"hello" she said as she stroked his nose and long neck. She had to admit he was beautiful and strong. She could almost see his strength and wisdom and she knew she wanted him.
"Whats his name?" She asked turning towards the kid "and how much?" She knew by the looks of it that the kid didn't want to sell him but in these hard times alot of horses are selling but no ones buying. Katy just hopes she has enough to get this big boy.

Katy smiled at the girl and accepted the papers. Starburst Captan what a funny name though it fit him well. She didn't even care about anything else, this was the horse she was going to get. As if to prove his worth he made the most curious burping noise and bit the rail. She smiled and patted him once on the nose before stepping back so the girl could have some time with her horse. She couldn't imagine ever giving away Rain Maker it would be horrible and almost unberable.
She watched what was sharded between Starburst Captan and the girl and Katy smiled, she hoped she would be able to connect with Starburst Captan as well as this girl had. Katy thought of all the things she would do when she got home. First she would make his stall perfect, then have him meet Rain Maker and possibly the other horses but maybe she would wait until tomorrow to introduce him to the whole clan since they weren't so nice. She studied Starburst Captan and confirmed with herslef that he was perfect.
The girl explained what could be read on the sheet telling her about what he would like in an owner. Though Katy thought about how she might not be able to show him unless she could break in her father better. She smiled at the girl and thought about the price, she deffinately had enough, one of the mustangs she had sold the other day was worth eight thousand so six thousand was no problem.
"I'll take him" She said then added "Is your mom or dad around so I can pay and get some other things I need from them?" She looked around but it seemed like the girl was all alone, hopefully this girl wasn't selling Starburst Captan without parental permission. She smiled again and approached Starbursst Captain then added
"Is there a nick name you normally call him? Or is it always Starburst Captan?" His full name was a bit of a mouth full but if they hadn't thought of a nick name she would manage with his full name. She patted his neck and giggled as he began 'wind-sucking', he deffinately had his own personality and Katy liked that in a horse.

Katy studied the girl as she spoke, she deffinately did not want to sell her horse, but Katy suspected that the parents needed the money. She smiled sweetly at the girl and pulled a piece of paper out of her back pocket. She sqribbled her phone number and address.
"Here is my phone number and address, you can come see Captain anytime you like as long as you call first, plus if you mom or dad had anything to add about Captains needs, or if they ever want to stop by to make sure I have anything right just give me a call." Katy reached into her other back pocket and produced her wallet. Counting out six thousand she folded the bills and wrapped the piece of paper around them. "Here you go six thousand, and I'll make sure to get his cribbing collar today, don't worry he is in good hands, I promise." Katy smiled at the girl and held out the money, she couldn't wait to get home and start riding Starburst Captan he seemed like he would be a very good ride, maybe she could sneak in a few practice jumps before her father got home, but that was wishfull thinking.
