Audrey stifled a yawn as she walked out of the apartment building. It was quite early; she had woken up at five and had left her apartment about twenty minutes after that. She wasn't sure why she decided to get up so early to go for a run that morning; she had quite a bit of time to head over to the ranch that morning to work Ranger. Still, she preferred to run when it wasn't as busy around the streets. It also wasn't nearly as hot out now as it would be in a few hours. If anything, it was quite cool out.
Audrey looped the end of Jody's leash on the railing nearby as she paused to tie her long brown hair up on a pony tail. She was dressed to go for a run with her running shoes, shorts, sports top and light zip up hoodie. She glanced at her watch, making note of the time as she picked up Jody's leash again and started down the steps.
She started at an easy jog to get warmed up. This was the first time she was taking Jody for a run, so she wasn't sure how it would go. She only recently adopted the German Shepherd and still didn't know a lot about her. She hoped she was good with traffic and wouldn't try to run off after any other dog they saw. Ever since adopting Jody she took her with her to the ranch so she could get exercise there instead of being cooped up in her apartment all day.
Audrey breathed in the cool morning air as she jogged along the sidewalk of one of the streets of Colovista, heading into one of the neighborhoods. Surely it would be less busier there than heading downtown, where she refused to run. She hated running in busy downtown areas; she's done it before in other towns and it wasn't much of a work out running down the block, stopping at a traffic light and waiting so she could cross the street only to do that again. She would have to keep track of where she was going; she hasn't been down this way before and didn't want to get lost.
Brushing away those thoughts Audrey continued with her easy jog, occasionally tugging on the leash when Jody sped up to get her to slow down so she wasn't pulling her down the sidewalk. She occasionally glanced at her watch, finding that only about fifteen minutes had passed since she left the apartment building.

A tall man with curly brown hair opened the door to his house. He stepped down the few steps leading to the gate; and then opened it. Slamming the gate shut, he smiled when he saw his cat, Mustard looking through the window.
Joel wasn't dressed very formally, just a nice dark blue t-shirt and khaki shorts. Earlier, he had decided to go for an early morning walk to get some fresh air. His nose piercing somewhat shone in the morning light, and his tatoo was clearly visible.
Joel was kind of new to town, he had moved in a few weeks ago. He liked it so far; the way most people were friendly, all the horses, the small buildings and shops. He liked it all.
Looking to the right, he decided to go in that direction. The curly haired guy caught site of a running woman coming his way, and stepped to the side. Taking a deep breath in, the 24-year-old smiled. "Hello, I'm Joel." The musician bit on his lip and decided to keep walking. He hadn't gotten too far from his home yet, but he wasn't going far anyways.

Audrey pulled lightly on the leash as Jody jogged along the sidewalk, getting a bit too fast for her. Finding that the dog was ignoring her she pulled back on the leash a bit more sharply as she attempted to slow down. "Jody," she muttered to the dog. The German Shepherd's ears perked up as a man walked out of his house. "Slow down," she muttered angrily to the dog, feeling as though she was now running out of control as she attempted to slow Jody as she pulled Audrey down the sidewalk.
Finally Jody slowed to a walk, looking up at Audrey with her tongue hanging out of her mouth as she panted. Audrey was nearly gasping for breath as she finally slowed to a walk, now aware that the young man appeared to be speaking to her, introducing himself as Joel. He was fairly tall with curly hair, looking to be a year or two older than her.
"Hey," Audrey greeted him once she was no longer gasping for breath. She gave Jody a pat on the head; other than the end sprint the run had gone fairly well. "I'm Audrey," she introduced herself. She felt slightly embarrassed and only hoped he didn't notice her rather out of control running at the end as she attempted to slow Jody down. She continued to walk to cool down after her run, keeping an eye on Jody to make sure the dog wasn't going to get distracted and run off after anyone or anything again. She didn't know much of the dog and had no idea if she would take off after any cats or dogs she saw.

"Hi, Audrey." Joel scratched his head and stuffed his other hand in his pocket. He was proud of himself for at least trying to make an attempt of being friendly. He was fairly new to town, and he'd barely made any friends. Waving as he started to walk away, he looked down and realized his shoe was untied. Reaching down to knot the laces, hi flicked his eyes back up to Audrey. Joel stifled out a quiet chuckle, and stood back up.
